Day 20

Well we got some rain and thunder and lightning last night and this morning in Weatherford, OK. They had tornado warnings for our area until 11:00 PM last night too.

The Best Western offered a full breakfast at the restaurant next door so after a phone call to Hoot we went to eat and see what the weather was going to do. Got back from breakfast and parked the Harley on the sidewalk in front to the room under the roof and loaded up and headed out about 8:30 am with our rain gear on.

It turns out we really didn't need our rain gear after all except for wet roads where it had rained ahead of us and a total of about 15 mins. of rain in the 311 miles we rode today. Not too bad.

We didn't see much for sites today but Susie and I played a game while we were riding. I was playing the game of trying to keep the rain ahead and behind us and she was playing the game of trying to catch a picture of lightning that was splitting the sky off to the South. Neither one of us really won because it did rain for a while and she didn't get a lightning picture but got some good sky shots and other scenery. LOL!!

We stopped for gas and lunch at another neat place called Isaac's Hog Wild Bar-B-Q. We had Bar-B-Q'd pork and cole slaw sandwiches. It was really good and big too. I didn't really need the fries. Actually since I quit smoking I really didn't need to eat. :^(

We crossed into Arkansas and got a room for the night in Clarksville, Arkansas which is about 100 miles East of Little Rock. We got some brochures to check out and are looking to get close to Memphis, TN tomorrow. Thinking of visiting Graceland but have to do some research on it.

  1. Great pics again. Just read your blog to Danny he still calls every night to see where you are. He tries to figure out where you will be the next day. If you make it to Graceland tell the King I said hi LOL.

  2. Hi,
Nice pictures. I think my favorite was the one with the trucker and the American flag flying in the background. A true picture of life in America. The next best one is the tower that says home of Garth Brooks. One of my favorite singers... Have a safe trip home and watch out for that hurricane after affects. Love Aunt Peg

  3. Watching the weather with the rain, possibly, in front of you... Whenever we'd get 15 miles away from home in Florida - whether we were gone for a few days or months - we'd run into rain... Hope you keep 'missing' it...

The wind you mentioned yesterday, a few years ago while riding through Nebraska, the wind was so strong couldn't put the Sportster on it's kick stand or the wind would blow it over...

    Be safe and have fun,

  5. Tammy,
    Will do...

    Aunt Peg,
Thanks and I am hoping the hurricane effects stay away.

    Peggy (cubbear)
The rain pretty much did stay ahead of us and that was a strong Nebraska wind.

  6. Hi Susie and Albert. Glad that you missed the rain. When I saw the weather report, I wondered if it would catch up with you. Congrats on giving up smoking, btw Albert. Hope that day 21 goes well. Becky
