It's a go.....

I put in for the last week of July off from work, to go with the month of August, and it is approved. We will be leaving the 24th or 25th of July and will have 36 or 37 days to complete our trip. I believe we could have done it in a month but it will be better to have the extra days.

Unfortunately it will be another trip that will be impossible to see EVERYTHING but we have already started of list of things we would LIKE to see. From the research I have done, the trip up the coast to Oregon will be filled with awesome sites to see. Two things right off the top of my head are The Golden Gate Bridge and the Redwood Forest.

We have a lot of things in the Santa Monica area we would like to see also. Some of the things in the area are the Santa Monica Pier, The Third Street Promenade, Hollywood, The Walk of Stars, Venice Beach, Muscle Beach, The Rock Store, and Mission Ranch ( unique accommodations owned by Clint Eastwood). So we may be in the Santa Monica area for a couple of days. Our friend Mark from San Diego that we met up with last year may ride up to Santa Monica to meet us this year or we may ride down to visit him. We haven't confirmed those plans yet but will surely meet up with him someplace.

We plan on taking a detour off Route 66 to visit Las Vegas again this year too. I never would have imagined that I would go out of my way to visit a place like Las Vegas. There is just something about that place that I like and it's not gambling because I am not a gambler. Well at least I don't gamble for money. hahaha.

We also plan on riding the "Going-to-the-Sun Road" in Glacier National Park and then down to visit Yellowstone National Park. Then back up to North Dakota just because we have never been there. Time allowing we will visit the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

We will continue to add and subtract places we would like to visit on this trip. We look forward to the day we head out. In the meantime we look at the pictures from last years cross country ride and pictures from other trips we have taken.

With the long winters we have here in Northern New York, it is nice to look at the pictures from other trips and remember the 115 degree rides in the deserts and walking "The Strip" in Vegas all day with the temperature at 113 degrees. Pulling out of Rifle, Colorado on an August morning with the temp at 37 degrees. Riding in a torrential down pour in Draper, South Dakota just missing the baseball size hail at Sturgis, missing the floods in Louisville, Kentucky the tornadoes we missed, the family we visited and the friends we made.

C'mon July 25th.......................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
