Day 14 Las Vegas. NV - Glendora, CA 245 miles

We were up and on the road at 5:50 this morning and took one final ride down "The Strip" on the way out of town. There sure is a lot of traffic and a lot of people walking the streets at that time of the day.

So we headed across the Mohave Desert and we were liking that it was as warm as it had been. We were on and off Route 66. We found a Walmart and got some more water. Stopping at a Walmart makes Susie real happy to shop. She likes Walmart.
We stopped to gas up somewhere around Baker and they had the coolest urinal I have seen so I had Susie take a picture of it. NOOOOO, I am not really going to the bathroom. I am just posing. We got some sagebrush for Sharlene while we were there too.

We had toast in coffee this morning at Peggy Sue's 50's Diner and it was almost $9. Ouch!

Lots of smoke around San Bernardino. There must still be a lot of wildfires in the area because we see a lot of fire trucks too.
We missed Mark this year because he went home to NY to visit his parents in North Creek. Talked with him on the phone though and had a good visit with him.
So tonight we are in Glendora, CA at the Route 66 Best Western and will finish Route 66 tomorrow in Santa Monica at the Pier.

That's all for today. Take care.

  2. Hi Al and Susie,

Love the picture of the tree before the Best Western - looks like 'cotton candy'...

Okay, question for you: What time do you get into your motel if you leave at 5:50AM and rode 245 miles...?

Sent you an email with picture of 'hay' on a flatbed...

Have fun, enjoy and be safe...

  5. Peggy cubbear,
    Replied to your email.
For the motel time. Today it was early but it depends on the road we ride, traffic, construction, how much we visit, how many times we stop. We try to be off the road by 4 or 5 pm at the very latest but don't have any "set" check in time. Today was about 12:30. We seldom have reservations so don't have to be any one place at a certain time. After we got to the motel we posted to the blog, toured the little town, went to lunch, did the laundry again, called the boys, etc.

Yup,OK, I don't have a reaction like I used too. It was fine after we got stopped and Susie pulled the stinger out.

  8. Sharlene,
I hope the sagebrush makes it OK and we got the sand today from the Santa Monica Pier Beach. Hope it was beach sand you wanted. I got a small baggie full so Mason and Drew can have some too.
